Community Involvement

While I have been blessed with this wonderful career, my health, and the ability to care for my family, I have a desire to help those who cannot help themselves.

My professional specialty is to provide financial advice to families who have loved ones with special needs and the resources to help them. For this reason, I have chosen to serve on the board of Envision Unlimited, which aides over 1200 individuals with special needs. Their mission is to provide quality services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that promote choice, independence and community integration.

Ninety two percent of those they serve live at or below the poverty level. The families have challenges far beyond what I deal with in my professional career, so I embrace the opportunity to improve their quality of life.

I am proud to say that I have served on the Board of Directors of Envision Unlimited since 2007. As a member of the Board, I participate in key decisions and fundraising that has led to the expansion of services and programs. Specifically, I provided counsel on acquiring two new Day and Employment Training Centers, five residences for six to eight clients, and the creation and implementation of two new programs: the Adult Autism Program and the Horticultural Program. Currently, I am the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors’ Executive Committee. I am also the Chair of the Advancement Committee, with my primary responsibility being to lead a committee of fifteen professionals toward our goal of fundraising and increasing awareness of the organization's mission.

All these programs fill a significant need in the intellectually and developmentally disabled community. They provide more possibilities and opportunities for clients and help some of the most impoverished families in Chicago more effectively care for their loved ones. My family and I are proud to be advocates of this wonderful agency and along with help from my office, we have hosted a Holiday Celebration which provided a special meal and gifts for sixteen clients.
As the state continues to decrease its funding, the need for the private sector to step up has become increasingly critical. I am passionate about the work Envision does and the difference they make in supporting 1200 low-income individuals with developmental disabilities by providing homes, skills, friendship, and hope!
